Take the first step

Change will not come if we wait for some other person at some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.

Barack Obama

Are you an agency with a bold brief, a team on a mission or an individual with an idea you just can’t ignore?

Maybe you’ve spotted a problem that needs solving or an opportunity too good to pass up. Perhaps you're ready to step up as a leader - or simply tired of sitting on the sidelines.

Whoever you are and whatever your goal, it’s your passion for making a difference that matters most. That passion means you’re probably ready to take the first step, even if someone else leads the way later, because every change starts with someone willing to begin.

But first, a word of caution: while the urge to dive in quickly may be strong, rushing in often leads to mistakes. You’re far more likely to succeed if you first build a strong team and then shape a clear vision and solid plan together.

Take action:

Start your community project by reflecting on what you can contribute to it. Using the tool provided, score yourself 0 for ‘No,’ 1 for ‘Maybe,’ and 2 for ‘Yes.’ Add up your total and assess (as honestly as you can) your strengths and weaknesses.
