The AI & Society Community Hub

The goal of the AI (Artificial Intelligence) and Society Community Hub is to improve University-Community connections on a variety of themes relating to AI and help establish Southampton as a city of AI Innovation.

The hub was launched in October 2024. At the launch event, University of Southampton researchers, and respresentatives from local community groups and businesses who were actively using AI shared their experiences in addition to a challenge that they were facing, and participants were invited to collaborate on a potential solution.

Guest were able to meet people from around the city with similar interests, and challenges. The event gave participants the opportunity to share ideas, networks and make new connections to help move their projects forward - as well as the chance to learn something new!

Aims of the community hub

The Public and Community Engagement Hubs are networks that bring together the local Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector with our staff, students, and research; supporting impactful collaborations and driving positive social change that celebrates and enriches our city and region.

The hubs contribute to public engagement activities at a range of events throughout the year.
