The Alliance

Started by Hampshire County Council and the Future Towns Innovation Hub, the AI Growth Alliance is a new partnership working to grow a strong and inclusive AI economy and develop local skills in Hampshire and the Solent region.

Supported by leading colleges, universities, employers and community organisations - including the South Coast Institute of Technology - the alliance is working together to make sure our region is a key part of the UK’s AI growth.

Our goal is simple:

To help people from all backgrounds gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed in a world shaped by AI.

Through education, innovation and career support, we’re creating a joined-up network where learners, teachers and employers work together to open new opportunities.

Aims of the alliance

  • Drive AI Growth and Innovation
    We want to make the region a leading centre for AI, bringing universities, businesses and government together to drive new ideas and progress.
  • Help Businesses Use AI
    We will support companies - especially small and medium-sized ones - to use AI responsibly so they can boost productivity, stay competitive and grow.
  • Build Skills for Everyone
    We’re creating new training routes into AI careers, including courses, bootcamps, apprenticeships and career-change programmes, with a strong focus on fairness, diversity and inclusion.
  • Support Research and Digital Infrastructure
    We’ll encourage joint research projects, help secure funding, and develop the tools and systems needed for AI, such as data platforms, digital networks, and energy capacity.
  • Encourage Responsible AI and Bring in Investment
    We will promote safe and ethical use of AI, raise the region’s profile, and attract new AI companies and investment to the area.
