The AI and Society Community Hub aims to strengthen connections between the University of Southampton and the wider community across a range of AI-related themes, helping position Southampton as a city of AI innovation.
Launched in October 2024, the Hub’s inaugural event brought together University of Southampton researchers and representatives from local community groups and businesses actively using AI.
Participants shared their experiences and the challenges they were facing, and were invited to collaborate on potential solutions. The event also offered opportunities to meet others with similar interests, exchange ideas, grow networks, make new connections and learn something new.
The AI and Society Community Hub forms part of the wider Public and Community Engagement Hubs - networks that connect the local Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector with University staff, students and research.
These hubs support meaningful collaborations, drive positive social change and enrich the city and region through engagement activities throughout the year.
Themes we work on include:
- AI and the Arts
- AI and Digital Productivity
- AI and Education
- AI and Health
- AI and Inclusive Design
- AI and Sustainability
