Example Challenge: How Can We Increase the Amount of Active Travel in Our District?
Encouraging more people to walk, cycle, or use other forms of active travel can improve health, reduce emissions, and create more vibrant communities. However, our district faces barriers such as limited infrastructure, safety concerns, and cultural habits that favor car use.
We’re seeking ideas and solutions to:
- Design and implement infrastructure that makes walking and cycling safe, accessible, and appealing.
- Promote active travel through community initiatives, incentives, or education campaigns.
- Address challenges such as connectivity between key locations and inclusivity for all demographics.
Our goal is to create a district where active travel is a convenient, enjoyable, and sustainable choice for everyone. What innovative approaches or best practices can help us achieve this vision?
